Sustainability

Our approach

At Sweetland, sustainability is practical, not performative. We pair classic craft with modern packaging to keep quality high, waste low, and joy portable—so you can celebrate anytime, anywhere. Our Pop Cakes are handcrafted in small batches and sealed in 100% recyclable PET cans, aligning convenience with eco-minded design.

Packaging that protects—and recycles

Food-grade PET, easy-open, built for the real world. Our cans are tough enough for transport and everyday life, reducing breakage and spoilage while keeping cake light, airy, and fresh. They’re made from safe, eco-friendly materials and designed to be recycled after use.

Why this matters

Durable packaging means fewer damaged units, longer freshness windows, and smarter inventory—translating to less waste across the chain from kitchen to cart.

Fresh-sealed longevity = less waste

Time is one of the most sustainable ingredients. By sealing our cakes fresh, we extend shelf life so more product gets enjoyed—not discarded.

  • Shelf life from manufacture: ~8 months

  • Shelf life refrigerated: ~3 months

  • After opening, refrigerated: 7 days

  • Storage: keep refrigerated 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) or frozen ≤ −18 °C (0 °F)

These standards help venues, retailers, and home freezers plan better, stock smarter, and toss less.

Small-batch by design

We produce in small batches to protect quality and reduce overrun. Smaller runs mean tighter QC, fresher inventory, and fewer returns—another simple way we cut waste at the source.

Our portfolio includes sugar-free and no-added-sugar varieties, with gluten-free and fully plant-based (vegan) options—modern choices that respect a range of lifestyles without compromising indulgence.

Cold-chain care

From our facility to your fridge, we communicate clear storage guidance to preserve peak taste and texture while minimizing spoilage:

  • Refrigerate at 0–4 °C (32–39 °F)

  • Freeze at or below −18 °C (0 °F) for longer hold

  • Enjoy within 7 days after opening

Clear instructions = consistent quality and fewer tosses.

How to recycle your can

  1. Enjoy the cake (best part).

  2. Rinse the can and lid.

  3. Recycle according to local guidelines where facilities exist.

Our cans are 100% recyclable PET; always follow your municipality’s rules for preparation and sorting.

Our sustainability roadmap

We’re continuously improving. Current focus areas include:

  • Packaging optimization: ongoing testing of material thickness and formats that maintain integrity with less material.

  • Waste tracking: tighter inventory analytics to reduce shrink across production and distribution.

  • Energy efficiency: iterative upgrades to cold-storage and production equipment for smarter power use.

(We’ll share progress updates as we hit new milestones.)
